How to use the JSON Minifier

  1. Paste formatted JSON into the input box.
  2. Select Minify. The compact version and the size saved appear.
  3. Copy the result or download it as a .json file.

Example

Formatted JSON becomes one compact line. The values are identical; only spacing outside the values is removed.

Input
{
  "name": "Vexiqora",
  "tags": ["json", "tools"],
  "free": true
}
Minified output
{"name":"Vexiqora","tags":["json","tools"],"free":true}

About this tool

Minifying JSON removes every space, tab and line break that isn’t part of a value. The data stays identical, but the text gets smaller, which helps when you store it or send it over a network. This tool also tells you the size before and after, measured in bytes.

Good to know

  • Only whitespace outside values is removed. Spaces inside strings are kept exactly.
  • Invalid JSON is rejected with an error instead of being guessed at.
  • Sizes are measured as UTF-8 bytes, so accented letters and emoji count as more than one byte.
